Community route: itsuno's release guide clears Specialist with high-level Flamethrowers spread across the path. A second guide reports Tesla as its chosen solution and names Flamethrower, Gunner and Laser as alternatives.
Specialist rules that are easy to break
Steam's wording is “Survive level 3.1 with only one type of tower and no abilities.” Multiple copies of the chosen tower are allowed; mixing in a second type is not. Leave the ability bar alone for the entire attempt.
- Pick the tower type before the build phase and do not improvise another one mid-run.
- Do not use a missile, strafe, Cryo Beam, Nuke or another active tool to rescue a leak.
- A perfect-health clear is not part of the official condition. Survival is enough.
Route A: cover the course with Flamethrowers
The pictured community route uses only Flamethrowers. Its author explicitly says the tower branch was highly upgraded. The useful lesson is coverage, not pixel-perfect imitation: towers are spaced around separate bends and approaches so one local break does not leave the rest of the course untouched.
- Spend before the attempt. If Flamethrower is still a low-investment branch, farm a normal clear instead of copying an end-tree layout.
- Cover distinct turns. Spread cones across the long route rather than stacking every tower at the first entrance.
- Aim through the traffic. Rotate each cone so the horde stays inside it while following the lane.
- Watch the first uncovered bend. Move the nearest Flamethrower; adding a different tower type would void Specialist.
- Let a few leaks go if necessary. The objective asks for survival, not a flawless result.
Route B: use a different single type
plant4's release guide says it used Tesla Coils for 3.1 and also considers Flamethrowers, Gunners and Lasers plausible. A commenter on the other guide reports completing 3.1 with Machine Guns concentrated near the spawn. Those are independent player reports, not official balance rankings.

Why the same layout may fail on your tree
- The opening wave barely thins: the chosen branch needs more permanent upgrades.
- One turn leaks repeatedly: rotate or move the nearest copy; keep the roster legal.
- The achievement fails to unlock: verify that no second type was placed and no ability was clicked.
- Tesla engages too early: pull part of the network deeper so it catches separated survivors.
- Laser coverage changes after placement: re-check the bounce path against the actual wall edge.
Community route, not a guaranteed first try
Upgrade progress changes the result. The tower choices shown here assume a well-developed branch, so a lower upgrade tree may need more farming before the same placement works.
